今週1/8、以下の通りレーザー核融合(LF)グループ2回目の研究報告会を開催致します。
今年最初の研究報告会となりますので、多数ご参加下さいます様お願い致します。

10:45 – 11:00 Summary of Laser Fusion Group Activities

11:00 – 11:30 Summary of Cool REB campaign and 2nd Harmonic Conversion of LFEX laser beams

The summary of the Cool REB campaign will be presented.
After the Cool REB energy the cooling efficiency was improved from about 0.4 to 2 %, however it is still not enough.
We are planning to install wavelength doubling crystal (LBO) into LFEX to enhance energy coupling efficiency.
The detailed design and plan of this study will be presented in the talk.

11:30 – 11:50 Direct measurement of kilotesla magnetic field by proton deflectometry
(King Fai Farley Law, IPC, Mc 2)
Using a capacitor-coil target driven by GXII laser beams, magnetic field with peak amplitude of 620T was characterized to be generated in 1.5ns(FWHM). In this experiment, deflection measurement of TNSA proton beam generated by LFEX laser is adopted as a direct magnetic field measurement method. In contrast to other methods, such as probe coil or Faraday rotation, proton deflectometry do not require any extrapolation from distant measurement, as well as precision requirement of magnetic field modelling. This feature provides large possibilities for direct measurements of more complex magnetic field structure in future experiments.

11:50 – 12:10 Hydrodynamic instability in laser-produced plasma under strong magnetic field

Growth of perturbations in laser-produced plasmas may be affected by an externally applied strong magnetic field as a result of non-uniform thermal conductivity.
Experimental and computational results of the hydrodynamic instability under the strong magnetic field will be reported.
