The 5th International Symposium of the Vacuum Society of the Philippines (ISVSP 2024), held in Baguio City, featured discussions on surface science, materials processing, and plasma physics, with significant contributions from Japanese universities and industries like ULVAC. Presentations highlighted advancements in atmospheric pressure plasma treatment for improving sample properties and novel techniques in pulsed laser deposition and semiconductor etching. The symposium underscored the role of plasma in developing materials for industrial applications, reflecting a strong interest in plasma-enhanced commercial products. The event fostered dialogue on future research directions and potential collaborations, including discussions on vacuum research infrastructure development with the Philippines’ Department of Science and Technology.
